Gourmet Trading Company Teams With “The Smurfs” For The Blu-Ray™ And DVD Release

In anticipation of the release of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s The Smurfs, on Blu-ray™  and DVD Dec. 2, 2011, Gourmet Trading Company is bringing the iconic characters to their packages of Argentina and Chile blueberries from November 2011 through February 2012.

The Smurfs-branded labels will be on 6 oz clamshells from Argentina in November and December and 11 oz clamshells from Chile December through February.

The promotion will also feature an instant redeemable coupon for $5 off The Smurfs Blu-ray™ or DVD with the purchase of Gourmet Trading Company blueberries during the month of December .

This instant redeemable coupon will increase store sales in two different departments contributing to a lift in overall store sales. Retailers joining the promotion will be part of this summer’s highest grossing family film, taking advantage of aggressive advertising and promotion done by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.  This will give retailers the chance to offer a holiday gift idea and blueberries all while saving money.

“We are pleased to be participating with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on another cross promotion,” stated Julia Inestroza, Marketing Director for Gourmet Trading Company.  “To follow up on our successful promotion with the theatrical release of The Smurfs, it made perfect sense to offer another option for our retail partners to increase sales.”

The Smurfs will have families everywhere singing a happy song on Dec. 2 when the live-action animated feature becomes available on 3-Disc Holiday Blu-ray™ + DVD Giftset, Blu-ray 3D™ and DVD for the SRP of $45.99 (Blu-ray 3D™), $40.99 (3-Disc Holiday Giftset) and $30.99 (DVD).  The 3-Disc Holiday Blu-ray™ + DVD Giftset  includes  The Smurfs : A Christmas Carol DVD, an exclusive, all-new mini movie starring the Smurfs based on the timeless classic and available for a limited time only.
